Emmanuel Macron set to land massive parliamentary majority – as far-right leader Marine Le Pen wins seat for first time

FRENCH president Emmanuel Macron tonight won a record landslide in parliamentary elections that will strengthen his hand for upcoming Brexit negotiations.

The 39-year-old’s new party, Republic En Marche (REM, or Republic on the Move) and its coalition partner MoDem was expected to gain 425 seats out of 577 in the National Assembly, exit polls suggested.
